Cottage Garden, Chulmleigh

A cottage garden designed for a couple living in a period property typical of rural North Devon. South-facing with expansive views over the wider landscape, the garden needed to blend seamlessly with its local environment.

The clients wanted a space that suited their busy lifestyle while preserving the character of their historic home and village. The resulting design offers ample room to enjoy the sunny aspect, flanked by flowering herbaceous borders and a small, easily maintained lawn. A central path leads to the front door, providing a strong, well-defined framework for year-round interest. Traditional mixed stone paving and brick edging create a timeless structure, beautifully softened by lush summer planting.
