Terrace Garden, South Molton

Clients wanted to extend their living area from the large kitchen diner of their beautifully renovated period farmhouse. To create a seating and eating terrace with excellent views to their vineyard and surrounding countryside.

Using natural blue slate stone for the paving material matched with the slate window sills of the property and the existing slate kitchen floor. Riven slate was chosen to give an aged look, to sit comfortably with the period of the property. Likewise, reclaimed red bricks were used as edging and steps to match the existing aged materials in the landscaping and property as a whole.

Areas were left for planting with herbaceous perennials and evergreen herbs to soften the edges of the hardscape and visually blend the terrace into the wider rural landscape.
